So Ra No Wo To 2

Either my computer or the internet is being a pain in the ass so no more pictures. Sorry.

But I will tell you about the episode. Again I point out it was pretty to watch. But the episode itself was mostly just introductions and stuff. No real plot has been shown. There were a few signs of things that could be important later but we’ll see. They introduced themselves, showed around the base, and then went one a ghost hunt in what looks like an old school building. I think that was the most interesting part of the episode. It turns out the ghost was the owl who stole the bell in the first episode. I guess I’m hoping something will develop soon.

Durarara!! 1

So I know that I’m like really late talking about this but oh well. I reeeeeeeeeeeeally liked this one. They did a really good job starting this of at a good pace and it was interesting. The main character was introduced, we were told about him then about the history between him and his friend then they wasted no time talking about gangs, introducing  friends they met as they were walking, and even had a kidnapping happen and saw the urban legend all in one episode. It’s like the opposite of  Vampire Bund. I thought I got a good feel for everything about this anime all in one episode and it was just enough to keep me happy but wanting to know what happens next. Am I making sense? Well anyway it was good.

I also watched Chu-Bra!! and Seikon no Qwaser. Chu-Bra!! was just like wtf…and Seikon no Qwaser has potential to be good but it’s not. It had those moments where I was really into it and then BAM it turns into something stupid like he grabs some chicks breast. *sigh*The whole Qwaser thing sounds kinda cool but it really pisses me off that they turned it into  something stupid. I dunno…I can understand the religious point but still. It’s just unnerving you know?

Anyway I was going to say that if anyone wants to read something better on these then go read Dustin’s blog-Yin no Piano. It was really entertaining to read his take on the second episode of So Ra No Wo To.

So Ra No Wo To episode 1:

Watching the first episode I was impressed. Although I am more a piano and violin person the trumpet music was nice. It was pretty, no beautiful, to watch and it made me feel happy. I dunno why, it just seemed like a nice simple episode and I look forward to the next one. This one gets a YAY.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu episode 1:

It was ok…I laughed a bit and it was interesting enough. Hard to always tell a show from the first episode though but I’ll keep watching.

Dance in the Vampire Bund episode 1:

I love how everyone just stood around and let the crazy vampire kill her lol. Anyway…I dunno how well I liked this one. It’s starts off as people talking about vampires on a tv show. I didn’t get to see much of the characters that were actually important you know what I mean? I didn’t get any feel for what they were going to be like. All I got was that there are vampires in this show. And I could have told you that before I watched it. Of course I’ll keep watching. I almost never give up after a first episode. This one was just ok. I was almost bored…but I think the could change. We’ll see.

Omamori Himari episode 1:

Well…I thought it was kinda cute and it made me laugh. Plus it didn’t waste any time giving me answers I could live with for now. I know why the cat is there and I know what she’s trying to do. And I felt like I got a good idea of the characters…BUT I could swear to you I’ve seen this show a billion times before. How many times are they going to make anime’s like this? It was not very original.

I have yet to watch Durarara!! subbed yet so when I do I’ll post it too =].

But I did watch the RAW and even not understanding it, I liked it!

Anybody else watch these? What did you guys think?

Why do boys pajama pants have pockets and most girl pajama pants don’t? Seriously, why do they need pockets more than us?

Heres some of my memorable anime’s from this decade.

I’m not going to rate them I’m just going to put them down as whatever comes to mind.

 Tokyo Mew Mew (2002-2003)-Aside from sailor moon, probably one of my favorite magical girl series.

Hellsing (2001-2002) -I’m sure you all can guess why I like this one. Vampires, Nazis, werewolves…what more do you need?

Kanamemo (2009)-FUNNY.

Fruits Basket(2001)- I LOVE this show, and the manga. Don’t ask me why I just do. The ending was sad though.

Eureka Seven (2005, 2006)-It had a good story and some pretty good voice actors.

 .hack//SIGN (2002)-A bit slow going but I love .hack and the music was really great.

Samurai Champloo (2004-2005) -If you didn’t like this show to at least some extent there is something VERY wrong.

Rec (2006)-a really adorable love story.

Canaan (2009)-I thought it lacked in the story department but was really quite good in other aspects.

Soul Eater (2008- 2009)- I wanna go to their school.

D.Gray-man (2006 – 2009)-Love the manga, the anime is really great as well. Even having read it I wasn’t bored watching it.

Chobits (2002)-Chii is so adorable

Claymore (2007)- Well if the name isn’t enough, check out the show and all its bloody glory.

Strawberry Marshmallow (2005) -So freaking adorable!

Baccano! (2007)-This show had really great characters.

Fullmetal Alchemist (2003-2004)-Oh man don’t even get me started on this one. I could talk for hours about how awesome I think it is.

Chi’s Sweet Home (2008-2009)- Awwwwwwwwwwww kitties!

Full Metal Panic! (2002)-Must I explain?

Phantom Requiem for the Phantom(2009)-Ein and Zwei’s battle at the end…

Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle(2005-2006)- I have always been a fan of CLAMP.

Code Geass (2006-2008)- Had one of my favorite endings.

Toradora(2009)- I just liked it =].

Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha and Ryūsei no Gemini(2007 -2009)- One of my favorite shows and favorite character, Yin.  

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and 2nd GIG (2002-2005) -”Seriously, if you don’t like this you must be… yaoi fan girl.” LOL

Shugo Chara (2007-2009) I dunno. I’ve said it before, I don’t know why I like it.

Black Cat (2005-2006)- Sad that Saya died. But overall cool show. My favorite thing is that from the start Train was badass. In some shows watching the main character go through training and all that can be good but I just love it when they can come out and be like BAM. No messing around you know? then you can focus on the other aspects of the show instead of wondering if the character can handle it.

Bakemonogatari(2009)-Some seriously intriguing stuff in this one.

Devil May Cry(2007)- Demon’s and an epic sword. Fun game too.

Gunslinger Girl I and II(2003-2008) It kept me interested, and I liked each girls different personality and the relationships between them and their handlers.

Elfen Lied (2004)-Hmm how do I explain this one…It had some really brutal scenes and even though it kinda had that “let’s point fingers at who’s the greater evil” kind of feel, it kept my attention and overall I liked it.

Seitokai no Ichizon(2009)- I laughed every episode.  

Lucky star(2007)- Not really much story but I found that doesn’t always matter. Lucky Star is just one of those animes you watch just because you can, and for the multiple moments of randoness and moe.

Gakuen Alice(2004-2005)- I just thought it was really cute.

Spice and Wolf and Spice and Wolf II (2008-2009)- Another one of my favorites. I just loved it that much.

Bleach(2004-2009)- I love all the different levels of characters in this show and even the filler episodes have been pretty good.

Speed Grapher(2005)- haha the bad guys sorta win.

Glass Fleet (2006)- What I liked about this wasn’t the story itself but just the…creativeness. The clothes especially were interesting and the fact that it was set in space but seemed like it could have easily taken place on earth in like the 15th century.

And Last but not least we have Inuyasha and Inuyasha: Final Act. I was a HUGE fan of this when I was younger and still kinda am. Unfortunately my complaint is the same as everyone else. Just too long. I have indeed watched all the anime though. I made my way through it and I own all the movies and have read a little of the Manga, but what is it like 56 volumes? no. I just couldn’t do it. But I praise Inuyasha for making it this far and lasting this long and still having fans. The Manga itself took over a decade(1996) and the anime has been going for a decade(2000) now as well and is still going. Congratulations.

As for Music some of my favorite Openings and Endings are:

Bleach-Openings 3,4,5,and 6. yes I know thats a lot for one show but I love those.

Elfen Lied-”Lilium” It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.

Spice and wolf- “Tabi no Tochuu” and “Ringo Hiyori” Pretty and Adorable.

Phantom Requiem for the Phantom-”Karma” Also very beautiful.

Claymore- “Raison D’être” It’s by a great band called Nightmare.

Black Cat-”Daia no Hana” and Saya’s song “Konoyo no Uta”

Inuyasha-”Fukai Mori” I always liked the endings better than the openings for some reason. I think this was my favorite of them all though.

Darker Than Black-”Tsukiakari no Michishirube”,  “Howling” , and “Tsukiakari” which is prolly one of my favorite ending songs ever. There wasn’t an opening or ending I didn’t like for this series in fact, I LOVED them all.

Ghost in the Shell – “Inner Universe” and “Rise” Yoko Kanno, enough said lol.

Well there ya go. I suppose this post was really more for my benefit, I had fun remembering all that I’ve seen and even watched a few of my favorite episodes from the past few years. Just want people to remember this is all my opinion, but if you have something to add or disagree, don’t be shy about it

Alright well it’s not 2010 here yet but it is in other parts of the world so Happy New Year!

Durarara!!

Studio: Brains Base

Synopsis:  The story takes place in a downtown of Tokyo, Ikebukuro. At the invitation of his friend Masaomi, Ryūgamine Mikado transfers to a school in the city. When there his friend warns him about some of the local gangsters. The gangsters are afraid of an urban legend called “Dullahan”, a headless rider, who rides a black motorcycle without head lights or engine sounds. Upon Ryūgamine Mikado’s first day in Ikebukuro, he witnesses this urban legend and a scramble for Dullahan’s missing head breaks out. Based off novel by the same author who wrote Baccano.

From what I’ve read a lot of people are looking forward to this one. I know I will definitely be watching and I hope you guys check it out too. 

Dance in the Vampire Bund

Studio: Shaft       

Synopsis: After millennia in hiding, Mina Tepes, the Princess of the ancient covenant and ruler of all vampires, wants change. Using the vast wealth of the Tepes line, she has paid off the entire gross national debt of Japan and in so doing, gained the authority to create a “special district” off the coast of Japan that is to become the future haven to vampires the world over!
Now, on the eve of the landmark press conference announcing the existence of vampires to the world, terrorists and rival factions are plotting to assassinate Mina Tepes before she has a chance to make her world-changing announcement.

Well it is done by Shaft whom I know mostly for Bakemonogatari. I will watch it and it might actually be good. We’ll see. I can already tell they didn’t leave much to the imagination with the blood and gore.

So・Ra・No・Wo・To

Studio: A-1 Pictures

Synopsis: The story takes place in an imaginary town Seize (the model cities are Cuenca and Alarcón Fortress in Spain). A long war brings a gradual decline to the world. People disappear from the town and fishes cease to exist in the sea. In this quiet world, five girls guard a fortress and play brass vividly.

Well I like the character design. I will be watching this I’m sure, although I am not sure how well I will like it. But I think it is worth a try so I will be looking forward to it.

Hanamaru Kindergarten

Studio: Gainax

Synopsis: Anzu goes to a preschool with her friends, the shy Koume and the eccentric Hiiragi. Together they try to attract attention from their caretaker Tsuchida. However, he is clearly more interested in the pretty Yamamoto who supervises the class next door.

A combination of Gainax and adorable kids, who would have thought? It really looks adorable. Can’t wait to see if it’s as good as it is cute!

Katanagatari

Studio: White Fox

Synopsis: A swordfight story taking place in Edo era (17th – 19th century). Yasuri Shichika is the seventh head of the Kyotou school of Japanese sword martial arts and lives in Fushou Island with his sister Nanami. With the order from a female samurai general Togame, he sets out for a trip to collect the twelve treasured swords created by a legendary swordsmith Shikizaki Kiki. Based off novel by Nision, who also wrote Bakemonogatari.

Interesting artistry. I think this one could be a good watch, but that really depends on where the studio goes with it. I think it’s worth checking out though.

Seikon no Quasar

Studio: Taki

Synopsis: In St. Mikhailov Academy, Oribe Mafuyu meets a silver-haired boy called Alexander. He is a Qwaser, a being who can manipulate iron and draws his power from breast milk.

Hmmmmm…I don’t know if I really want to go into my feelings on this…I’d be happy to hear anyone elses though. I suppose I will mention it has a good character design.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

Studio: Silver Link

Synopsis: The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the “baka” of the title. His academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. A girl named Mizuki Himeji is actually one of the smartest girls in Akihisa’s sophomore year, but she had a fever on test day and was pigeonholed into the F class. Besides Mizuki (who Akihisa secretly adores), the F class also has Yūji Sakamoto, the class president who has been Akihisa’s friend and partner-in-crime since the freshman year. The school happens to have developed experiments to summon fantasy creatures, and Akihisa decides to rally F class to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. The F class uses the summoned creatures in an all-out battle for school supremacy.

Well just looking at it makes me think of Shugo Chara. Again, I will check it out and will probably watch a good portion of it, but not expecting too much.

Ookami Kakushi

Studio: AIC

Synopsis: The story follows Hiroshi Kuzumi, a 16-year-old boy who has just moved to the seemingly serene village of Jogamachi. Nestled in the mountains far away from the city, the village is divided by a river that separates old Jogamachi from new Jogamachi. Young Hiroshi soon discovers that the village’s ancient as well as mysterious traditions and customs have been kept alive over the ages. Although a bit bewildered by the new environment, Hiroshi begins to settle into his new life. While he has never been the type to win any popularity contests, he quickly earns the affection of his classmates. That is with the exception of aloof class president, Nemuru Kushinada, whose only words to Hiroshi are a warning to stay away from old part of town. It is there that terror and mystery await him.

I feel like I’ve seen this before, or heard a similar story. But maybe it will surprise me? We’ll see. 

All right well thats it. Anything else coming out doesn’t seem worth my time to write about or I won’t be watching it.

Overall I don’t really have anything I’m super excited about, but I’m willing to give these a try to see where they take me. I have been surprised in the past so it’s always good to at least try to watch some!

Yesterday I went to Borders at the Alderwood mall. And you know what? I came home with eight new books. And you know what else? thats nothing. I’ll have these finished in no time.  But the thing is, the only books I bought were the last few in the Anita Blake series (except Skin Trade) and the next few I needed of Kim Harrison’s Hollows series. My intentions though were not to only come out with these books. I had other books and some manga that I wanted but for several reasons this did not happen and alas, the Book Thief and a few others were passed up AGAIN. I will get them but at this point the pecking order is very clear when I buy books. Whats cheapest is always a good thing to look at because I only have so much money although this doesn’t always determine if I get a book or not, and what I actually need so if it’s in like a series then those come before solo books. I’m almost finished with all the series I’m reading though so thats good. I think the one I’m the most behind on is Ted Dekker’s Lost Book series. But Once I get the rest of them they are an easy read. So overall I think I’m ok with my choice to only purchase books from those two series. Anyway, whats everybody else reading? contrary to what this post might imply, I love historical books, fiction and non-fiction, I read it all. Hence why I’ve turned my love of history into my future career

On another note, I got a new puppy. Shes a german Shepard and her name is Heike (like Micah but with an h) and it is indeed a German name. Although If I have it my way thats going to change and I think you guys could guess what I want to name her

 Three big dogs is crazy, no? I think so but who asked my opinion anyway.

Well thats about it. My only goal in posting this really is to see what everybody else likes to read, manga included

So what do you think? I saw a pic of her and I thought it was so pretty I had to try to draw her myself.

I’m not very good at drawing, or at least I should say it doesn’t come easily to me. This is just a rough sketch, it took me quite a while and it isn’t even that amazing. But I tried and I’m happy I could at least do this.

I really wish I still had my scanner. The picture looks dark, don’t you think?

*Edit: Thats a little better?. I need to clean it up and perhaps color it, but I dunno if I want to mess with it too much…I think just leaving it as a simple sketch would be best.

Hmm…The only other thing I have to say is that Sakura-Con Put up the 2010 pre-registration list. They just put it up this morning with 2,180 people so far on the list. Thats pretty good. 99 Days left WOO! I can’t wait!!! 3 whole days of  epicness.
